The select pen tool allows you to draw a selection, and the select erase tool allows to erase any selection you made, whether it be selected with the wand tool, the select tool, or the select pen tool. They're just like the Brush and Eraser tool, but they work with selecting. The next tools are the Select Pen Tool and the Select Erase Tool. This tool makes a selection just like the select tool, but whenever you have it active, you can click on a spot you want it to fill, and it will select that entire area. The best way to use it is to half a selection made, and then putting the main color in the main slot, and the secondary color in the second slot, and then moving your mouse for how sharp or soft the gradient will be.
